Fasting – February 2026
At the Strategy Coordinator training in November, there was a real desire and willingness to come together in prayer and fasting for our nation. (For those of you outside the UK, simply do the same for where you live.)
Scripture gives us many examples of the power and benefits of corporate prayer and fasting. We would love to invite you to join us for 14 days of prayer and fasting, starting on 1st February 2026. (If you’d like to continue for the whole month, feel free!)
Here are some simple thoughts and examples to help you pray and fast—either individually or as a team.
I hope this will be helpful as you prepare for these 14–28 days. You’re free to join in as much or as little as you’re able.
We are generally thinking of a Daniel fast, which basically means:
No meat, no sweets, no treats.
We want to stay flexible and encourage everyone to take part. For example, if you can only fast one meal, or breakfast and lunch and then eat an evening meal with your family—that’s absolutely fine. Others may feel led to fast with just water for a few days, and that’s fine too.
Please see the attachments for practical ways to pray and fast.
Four Things to Consider Before Starting the Fast
Duration: February 2026 — 14 to 28 days
Type of Fast: Daniel Fast — or however the Lord leads
Purpose: Revival, people coming to know the Lord, and more harvesters in the field
Results: Usually in line with the purpose (although we often seek the Lord in one area and He strengthens and blesses us in others as well)
Daily Rhythm
Each day we will read one chapter from the book of Acts — DBS style.
We will also read and pray through either a Psalm, one of the Apostolic prayers, or the other Scripture listed for that day.
(See chart below.)
Gathered Prayer
During the first and last week, we will pray together each morning, Monday to Friday.
Each session will be just 30 minutes: 6:15–6:45am.
During the two middle weeks, we will meet on Tuesdays from 6:00–7:00am.

A book that has really challenged and inspired me is Forests in the Seed. It contains many helpful insights on how movement growth happens.
Below are the 10 prayer points for a movement-growth prayer strategy — I hope you find them helpful.
Prayer Strategy for Movement Growth
- That God will send labourers into the harvest field and increase the number of disciple-makers and intercessors.
- LK10:2 The harvest is great but the workers are few, so pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his field
- That God will touch people’s hearts and draw them to himself
- Pro 21:1 the King’s heart is like a stream of water directed by the Lord; he guides it wherever he pleases.
- Jn6:43-45 Jesus said stop complaining about what I said for no one can come to me unless thefather who sent me draws them to me and at the last days I will raise them up. As it is written, they will all be taught by God. Everyone who listens to the father and learns from him will come to me.
- For open doors for the gospel
- Col 4:3-4 pray for us too that God will give us many opportunities to speak about his mysterious plans concerning Christ. That is why I am in chains, pray that I will proclaim this message as clearly as I should.
- For persons of peace to be discovered in communities
- Lk 10:5-7. Whenever you enter someone’s home first say may God’s peace be on this house. If those who live there are peaceful, the blessing will stand if not the blessing will return to you. Don’t move around from house to house. Stay in one place, eating and drinking what they provide. Don’t hesitate to accept hospitality, because those who work deserve their pay.
- For every stronghold and lie of the enemy to be broken
- 2 Cor 10: 3-5. As humans, we don’t wage war as humans do. We use Gods mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We captured their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey .
- For fresh anointing and boldness for the disciple makers
- Lk 4:18 The spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He sent me to proclaim the captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be free.
- Lk 24:49 I will send the Holy Spirit, just as the father promised. But stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven.
- Acts 1:8. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. You will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the ends of the Earth.
- Acts 4:29,31. And now, oh Lord, hear their threats, and give us, your servants, great boldness in preaching your word….. after this Prayer the meeting place shook and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit then they preached the word of God with boldness.
- For an increase in signs, wonders and miracles
- Jn14:12. I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I’m going to the father.
- Acts 4:30. Stretch out your hand with healing power, many miraculous signs and wonders be done through the name of your holy servant Jesus.
- How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power and how he went around doing good and healing all those who are oppressed by the devil because God was with him.
- For protection and provision for workers
- Matt 10:16. Look, I’m sending you out as Sheep Among Wolves. DMM so be as shrewd as a snake and harmless as doves.
- Lk10:18-19 I give you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and nothing will injure you.
- 2 Cor 9:8 and God will generously provide all you need then you will always have everything you need and plenty leftover to share with others.
- For rapid multiplication of the work that results in movements
- Acts 6:7 as God’s message continued to spread the number of believers greatly increased in Jerusalem and many of the Jewish priests were converted to
- Jn15:8 when you produce fruit, you are a true disciple. This brings great glory to the father.
- Further movements and disciple makers all over the world
Matt 28:19-20 therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the father and the son and the Holy Spirit
