Prayer and Fasting

Prayer, fasting, and a regular personal encounter with the Holy Spirit will deepen our relationship with Christ and are the foundation of discipleship.

For many of us, the most important thing as a disciple of Jesus is also the most difficult – PRAYER!

“How many times have we set the alarm early, managed to get up out of bed, made a strong black coffee, and then sat down in our favorite chair with the Bible open in front of us? We might even have some soaking music playing softly in the background. Then, we wake up 30 minutes later, with cold coffee and a crick in our neck. – You don’t have to answer that!”

In Matthew 26:40, we read:
“Then Jesus returned to the disciples and found them asleep. So he said to Peter, ‘Couldn’t you watch with me for even one hour?’”

A friend once said to me:
“Much prayer – much power; little prayer – little power; no prayer – no power.”

The question we must ask ourselves is this: How much power of the Holy Spirit do we want working through us?

What would an extraordinary prayer life look like for you?

Whatever your ordinary prayer life looks like right now, could you add just a little more to it? That small step could make it extraordinary. Simple!

For several years, I have spent a week at a quiet or silent retreat, either with a group of monks or at a Jesuit centre. Each time, I have come away refreshed, strengthened, and revitalized in my ongoing relationship with the Lord.

As a ministry, we want to help individuals, small groups, and even churches learn the secret of spending time in the secret place – learning to be still and knowing that Jesus is Lord.

As friends and partners of Ignite Ministries we wanted to invite you to join us for a time of prayer and fasting starting in February 2026.

As you know, we’re part of NPL (#NoPlaceLeft), a community of disciple-makers. Like many others at the start of this year, we sense the Lord calling us to pray and fast for our nation — to seek God together, listen for His direction, and stand with one another in faith.

Please feel free to forward this to any friends or colleagues who may also want to join us.

I’ve attached a document outlining the vision, focus, and practical details for this time, including different ways you can take part. There’s no pressure at all — simply an invitation to join in as you feel led.

We’ll also be sharing encouragement and updates along the way so we can stay connected and support one another throughout.

Thank you so much for being part of this. I’m really looking forward to seeing what God will do among us as we press in together
