Becoming a Christian

Following Jesus will change your life for ever, but the actual steps you take to begin are as easy as ABC. If you would like to know Jesus for yourself, if you would like to be certain that your sins are forgiven and that one day you will go to heaven then follow these three easy steps.

Acknowledge that you have done wrong; that you have sinned. Everyone on earth has sinned. Maybe you haven’t done anything really bad…or maybe you have. It doesn’t matter what ’level’ of sin –  The Bible says in Romans 3:23 , ‘All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.’ You need a Saviour to set you free.

Believe in Jesus. Believe that He died so that you can be forgiven.  Then ask God to forgive you: The Bible says in John 3:16 ‘God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.’ If we confess our sins, He is faithful and will forgive us, completely.

Commit yourself to following Jesus. Following Jesus is not always an easy road, but it’s the best decision you will ever make!

The following prayer can repeated. As you say it believe in your heart and Jesus will forgive you and come into your life.

Heavenly Father
I come before you now to acknowledge my sin and I repent, I ask that you forgive me.  I ask that the cleansing power of the Blood of Jesus will wash me clean and set me free.  I turn away in repentance from all that is wrong in my life and I say that I am sorry.
I confess with my mouth and believe in my heart that Jesus is the Son of God and that He died on the cross for my sins and rose again in triumph so that I might be forgiven and receive eternal life.
I thank you for the promise of the Holy Spirit, and I ask for the power of the Holy Spirit to come upon me now; to guide me into all truth, in Jesus’ name.
I commit right now to follow Jesus and His commands, walking on a daily basis with Him so that my relationship may grow with Him, living in the freedom that He gave me when He laid His life down on the cross.       Amen.

If you have prayed this prayer – please tell someone!  It is a time of celebration.
